West Island Vacuums opened its first store in Pointe-Claire in 1989.  John Papas, its owner, was interested in repairs from a very young age and ran a vacuum repair business from his father's basement for a while.  In those early days, he offered mainly in-home repair service that built him a solid reputation as a vacuum expert. 

It was with this same passion that John opened his first store, selling and repairing with the same expertise and honesty that built his early success. A second store was later added in Ville Saint-Laurent, expanding his customer base and this, along with a commitment to always having a qualified staff, has solidified West Island Vacuums's reputation as the go-to place for vacuum expertise in Montreal.  

In 1998, the business was expanded and Cycleen Industries was created to manufacture central vacuums. A niche market had been found with people interested in an eco-friendly product, built locally and with the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
